Executive Director, United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‐Habitat)

Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who comes from Malaysia, was appointed as UN-Habitat Executive Director by the Secretary-General in December 2017. She previously served as Mayor of the City Council of Penang Island, Malaysia. In 2011, she was the first woman to be appointed as President of the Municipal Council of Seberang Perai after serving as Director of Planning and Development at the Municipal Council of Penang Island.
