Thomas Beloe

Director, Sustainable Finance Hub, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

Tom brings to the position 25 years of development experience across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Pacific. Prior to his global role in the SFH, Tom led the first UNDP SDG Finance team in Asia Pacific. Over 17 years, Tom has worked in UNDP in positions advising governments, the private sector and civil society on policies related to governance, climate change and development finance. Before UNDP, Tom worked for think tanks and NGOs as well as the UK government’s Department for International Development (DFID) as a Senior Governance and Social Development advisor with a particular role to bring a poverty focus to the UK government’s partnerships with International Finance Institutions. He also helped found the first UK government development initiative on socially responsible business practice in 1999. He has a MA in Anthropology from Cambridge University as well as an MSC Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics.
