Norichika Kanie serves on various committees and steering groups in Japan and other countries, including the SDGs Promotion Roundtable Meeting of the government of Japan under the SDGs Promotion Headquarters; and the Local Government SDGs Promotion Evaluation and Study Group, Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. He is one of 15 independent scientists to be appointed by the UN Secretary-General to prepare the 2023 Global Sustainable Development Report.
