Natalie Samarasinghe is Open Society’s global director for advocacy. She is a respected thought leader on the subjects of multilateralism, human rights, and civil society. Her expertise helps the Open Society Foundations challenge the complex political and cultural factors that obstruct meaningful change.
Samarasinghe previously served as CEO of the United Nations Association–UK and co-founded the 1 for 7 Billion campaign, which sought a fair, open and inclusive process to select the UN Secretary-General. She also worked for the United Nations in the Office of the President of the General Assembly, and as chief of strategy for the organization’s 75th anniversary initiative, which reached more than 900 million people.
